The company

Founded in 2007.
The aim of the company is the production of Greek wines that can represent and project in word level, the special quality and the dynamic property of Greek varieties of vines as well as to make known the Greek vineyards and regions.

Apostolos Matamis as former and scientific consultant, runs the company with the scientific aid of his two sons, Stelios and Giannis and with his vast experience, he chooses vineyards of Greek varities, mostly and creates original wines, advancing abroad, a new perception of Greek wine quality together with greek land.

Greek varieties as well as Greek regions become known at the same time.

Giannis Matamis was born in 1985 in Dijon, France and thanks to his father Apostolos Matamis’s profession, he developed, from a very young age, a very good relation with wine knowledge.
In 2009 he graduates from Agriculture University of Thessaloniki and International Higher Certificate in wines and spirits from WSET Awards.
Soon after, he continues in post graduate studies in Dijon and in 2001 he graduates from ESC Dijon Bourgogne with Master de specialize de Commerce International de Vins et Spiriteaux.
During his studies, he visits more than 150 French and Spanish wine cellars, housing, some of the mostly renown wine names in the field. His specialization studies, take place in the USA.
Today, he continues his postgraduate studies in wine, in university Dijon, in order to put his personal signature in the productive and commercial steps of the MATAMIS company.

Apostolos Matamis’s process in the field of wine counts over thirty years.
In this period of time he has developed experience over wine growing as well as oenologic and scientific fields. Having completed his studies in the University of Agriculture in Thessaloniki, Greece in 1981, began his post graduate studies in Dijon’s University, France, where he received the D.N.O (National Diploma of Oenology) & D.E.R in viticulture.
Distinguished for his high level of knowledge, Mr Matamis, worked at “Domaine Louis Latour”in Aloxe Corton Bourgogne.
In 1987 Mr Matamis returned to Greece, where he worked as an oenologist for “Boutaris wine productions” at several vine producing areas of Greece.
In 1991 his unquiet spirit lead him at Siatista in Kozani where he created and bottled the first Red Local wine of Siatista as well as the first bottled fermented grape, wine.
Over the years, Mr. Matamis has been working as an oenology consultant for several famous wineries in Greece and abroad, while at the same time he has been offering his knowledge and advise for his sons’ company.
Since 1996 Mr. Matamis has been directing Spindal N.E Ltd which is a member of the “AEB GROUP” in the field of commerce of wine products.
His ultimate aim is to bring to surface the evolution of the Greek vineyard and its possibilities on new paths, always in collaboration with his sons Stelios and Giannis Matamis.
His moral, experience and oenology achievements have granted Mr. Matamis with the validity and the recognisability in the whole European wine production world.

Stelios Matamis was born in Thessaloniki in 1981 but grew up in Dijon Bourgogne, therefore his early recollections are full of pictures of wine cellars and vineyards.
He studied in the International Center of Brewing and Distilling of Herriot-Watt University in Edinburgh Scotland and worked for some periods of time in “Athenian Brewery “ and “Mythos Brewery”.
In 2007 he established his own company and started producing his personal wine varieties in greek regions known for their traditional wine, such as Santorini or Nemea.
His multilateral studies allow him to act in three different, yet relative sections of wine industry (wine, brew, distilled product).
Stelios Matamis with his early achieved experience, has gained the trust of the specialists and offers his services in all the above mentioned three sections, as production consultant.
At the same time he works on the study and application concerning the machinery equipment for two distilleries and three wine cellars in Greece.
Today, his role in planning and realizing, personal wines is decisive.
